Devon "Ice Machine" Tarby

Devon Tarby is the first and only female to intimidate me with her talent behind the bar. Also known as the "Ice Machine," this nickname is no joke. Step into the Varnish in Los Angeles, and one can witness her whittling away ice into the perfect cube at lightning speed, measuring booze into mixing glasses so quickly the jigger becomes just a silver streak, shaking, stirring, pouring, service tickets flying, and all the while charming you with her sparkling blue eyes and her characteristic wink. Devon is an ultimate pleasure to observe and her products consistently speak for themselves. Not only is she quick and accurate, but she also possesses an extremely sophisticated palette, immense cocktail and spirit knowledge, and hands down my favorite personality, ever. If anybody was to be chosen as a wild card, there is no doubt in my mind that Devon fits the bill. Additionally, if she is chosen, I guarantee you I will have some serious competition, and laybacks will somehow be incorporated. -Yael Vengroff
